Dmitry Bivol Eyes June Showdown with Artur Beterbiev for Undisputed Light Heavyweight Crown

Dmitry Bivol is itching to step back into the ring for a tune-up fight in January, with his sights set on a potentially career-defining clash in June against Artur Beterbiev for the undisputed light heavyweight championship. Bivol's hunger for the fight is palpable, but Beterbiev is skeptical, labeling him as all talk and no action. Bivol, with an impressive record of 21-0 with 11 knockouts, is eager to defend his WBA light heavyweight title after dealing with injuries in the past year, his last bout taking place in November 2022 when he defeated Gilberto Ramirez. However, before jumping into the ring with Beterbiev, his management is exploring potential opponents for the January showdown, including the likes of Ronald Gavril and Radivoje 'Hot Rod' Kalajdzic. The decision to consider these fighters has raised some eyebrows, as Bivol's choice of opponents could be seen as less challenging. Nevertheless, it's essential for Bivol to make a successful return to the ring and avoid the risk of further injuries. While the desire for a fight against Beterbiev burns brightly within Bivol, the focus right now should be on his immediate return and the preparation for the January match. If Bivol secures the victory and Beterbiev successfully takes on Callum Smith in January, discussions for a high-stakes showdown in May or July next year could be on the horizon. However, it's worth noting that the WBC's involvement in sanctioning the fight between Beterbiev and Bivol remains uncertain due to recent statements from WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman regarding the Russian-Ukraine conflict. Nonetheless, Bivol is eager to get back to action and aims to create a spectacular bout in the near future, with the Middle East being one of the potential host locations. While a rematch with Canelo Alvarez may be on some fans' minds, Bivol remains focused on his weight class for now, expressing the need for concrete actions rather than mere discussions. Bivol's boxing journey is poised for a thrilling chapter in 2023, with the aim of adding another divisional title to his collection. His dedication to honing his skills and adaptability will likely play a pivotal role in his continued success in the ring.

Emanuel Navarrete Welcomes Unique Style Challenge Ahead of Title Defense

Emanuel Navarrete, who thrives on the excitement of captivating fights, has taken his career to new heights with a career-best victory against Oscar Valdez. Now, he's gearing up for a different kind of challenge in his upcoming WBO junior lightweight title defense against Olympic Gold medalist and veteran contender Robson Conceicao. "What I find intriguing about this fight is that Robson Conceicao brings a unique style to the table, unlike anyone I've faced before," Navarrete shared with BoxingScene.com. "True champions learn to adapt to various styles, so I eagerly anticipate this challenge." Navarrete's bout against Conceicao will be televised live on ESPN, serving as the lead-in to the Shakur Stevenson-Edwin De Los Santos WBC lightweight title bout on November 16. This doubleheader event will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. This fight marks the third clash for Mexico's Navarrete (38-1, 30 KOs) in 2023, each against significantly different opponents. The year kicked off with a spectacular ninth-round knockout of Australia's Liam Wilson, a victory that earned Navarrete the WBO junior lightweight title and made him a three-division champion. The renowned fighter then secured a clear-cut decision win over Oscar Valdez, a two-time Olympian and former two-division champion, in a fight hosted at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. Now, Navarrete faces Brazil's Conceicao (17-2, 8 KOs), a three-time Olympian and the first boxer from his nation to claim a Gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Conceicao's only two defeats have come on the championship stage, with a competitive loss to Valdez and a less competitive decision loss to Stevenson, who missed weight ahead of their WBC/WBO title clash last September. Navarrete, riding a 33-fight winning streak, with a perfect 12-0 record in title fights spanning three weight divisions, views the victory over Valdez as the start of a career-defining journey. The pairing of the Stevenson-De Los Santos fight with his own contest could pave the way for a future bout between Navarrete and Stevenson, both under Top Rank. Navarrete harbors long-term dreams of capturing titles in a fourth, and possibly fifth, division. For now, his immediate focus is to further unify the division, and he has his sights set on the skillful WBC junior lightweight titlist O'Shaquie Foster (21-2, 12 KOs) as a potential next opponent. The preparation for Conceicao brings unique challenges and opportunities for Navarrete. "In some sense, this is good preparation for the fighters I could face in 2024," he admitted. "Obviously, how I prepare for this fight will be slightly different than how I train for someone like O'Shaquie Foster. There are certain similarities, but it's not like we can have the exact same training camp for every opponent." Navarrete and his team approach every opponent with the utmost seriousness, tailoring their techniques to match the specific style of their adversary. This training camp has been no exception, given the distinctive style that Conceicao brings to the table. Navarrete's dedication to honing his skills and adapting to new challenges continues to drive his success in the ring.

Edward Vazquez Voices Frustration After Narrow Loss to Joe Cordina

Edward Vazquez couldn't hide his frustration in the wake of his closely contested loss to Joe Cordina on Saturday night. The two fighters went toe-to-toe for Cordina's IBF junior lightweight title at Casino de Monte Carlo in Monte Carlo, Monaco. While Cordina was a 14-1 favorite per DraftKings sportsbook, Vazquez put up a competitive performance in the 12-round battle. The judges' scorecards varied, with Judge Jeremy Hayes scoring it a draw at 114-114, but judges Deon Dwarte and Jean-Robert Laine gave Cordina the edge by scoring eight rounds each in his favor. As a result, Cordina was declared the winner with a 116-112 decision on their cards. Eddie Hearn, the promoter of Cordina's company, Matchroom Boxing, admitted that the fight was closer than Dwarte and Laine's scoring suggested. Vazquez, however, strongly disagreed with the majority-decision defeat. In his post-fight interview in the ring, he expressed his determination to return. "I'll be back, man," he declared. "Everyone in this room and everyone watching around the world knows I won. Eddie Hearn knows I won. But guess what? They did it to me again! But they can't stop that Fort Worth kid, man. Texas in the house. We made noise. You know what it is. I'll be back, baby." The reference to "again" was made in light of Vazquez's previous professional loss, a 10-round split-decision defeat to Raymond Ford in February 2022 at Footprint Center in Phoenix. Ford, also represented by Hearn's Matchroom Boxing, claimed victory in a close fight. In the bout against Cordina, CompuBox's statistics showed a near-equal number of punches landed for both fighters. Cordina connected with 170-of-527 punches, just six more than Vazquez's 164-of-568. Cordina held an advantage in power punches (143-of-331 to 128-of-405), while Vazquez had the upper hand in jabs (36-of-163 to 27-of-196). Cordina, the champion, revealed that his trainer, Tony Sims, had a tense conversation with him before the 10th round. Sims believed the fight was "probably level." While Cordina acknowledged that his victory wasn't resounding, he felt that he had done enough to claim the main event broadcasted worldwide on DAZN. Vazquez engaged in a heated argument with Cordina about the official outcome before they were separated and left the ring. Vazquez maintained that Cordina couldn't execute his game plan during the fight and couldn't land the right hand he had emphasized in the buildup to the contest. The frustration on Vazquez's part serves as a reminder of the intense emotions and personal stakes involved in the world of professional boxing, where every decision can have a profound impact on a fighter's career and reputation.

Dmitry Bivol Contemplates Move to Super Middleweight for Big Fights

Dmitry Bivol, the skilled light heavyweight boxer, is considering the possibility of dropping down to the super middleweight division for significant bouts and a chance to compete for a world title. One of the matchups that piques his interest is a rematch with Canelo Alvarez. However, Bivol would need to shed some weight, as he typically rehydrates to around 185 lbs for his fights in the light heavyweight category. If fighters like David Benavidez can make the move to 168, Bivol believes he can do the same. Bivol's management is actively seeking an opponent for him to face in December or January. While they've mentioned the names of Radivoje 'Hot Rod' Kalajdzic and Ronald Gavril, these fighters may not generate substantial interest from the boxing public due to their relatively low profiles. For now, Bivol is focused on his upcoming bout with Callum Smith on January 13th, where he aims to become the undisputed champion by defeating IBF/WBC/WBO champ Artur Beterbiev. However, Bivol recognizes that remaining in the light heavyweight division after facing Beterbiev might not be a wise decision, as the division's talent pool could diminish significantly. "It's easier for Dmitry to go to 168, and I'll let him speak for that. There are some bigger fights out there for him at 168," remarked Vadim Kornilov to Fight Hub TV, addressing Bivol's potential move to super middleweight. Bivol, in response, noted, "I think it's easier for me to move down to 168 than it is to move up [to cruiserweight] for me." If Bivol decides to transition to the super middleweight division, it would likely be for matchups against fighters of considerable caliber, such as David Benavidez, Caleb Plant, David Morrell Jr., and Demetrius Andrade. Notably, Canelo Alvarez has shown little interest in a rematch, making it unlikely that Bivol's move to 168 would lead to a second encounter with the Mexican superstar. Bivol's weight management is conducive to this shift, as he disclosed, "In my fights, my weight is 185 lbs maximum. In normal life, my weight is around 190 lbs, and to make 175, it's easy." With a strategic training camp and a focus on weight control, Bivol believes he can comfortably make the 168 lbs limit for super middleweight.

Joe Cordina From Reluctant Boxer to Two-Time World Champion

Joe Cordina, the Welsh boxer who is now a two-time world champion, never envisioned a career in the ring. He candidly admits that he only tried boxing to please his father. However, as he prepares for his first title defense against Edward Vazquez in Monte Carlo, Cordina reflects on the pivotal moments in his life that kept him in the professional boxing world. Cordina's boxing journey has been far from conventional. He began as a rugby enthusiast, relishing the camaraderie and physicality of the sport. The transition to boxing was not his choice; it was his father's encouragement that led him to lace up the gloves. "I didn't even want to box, to be honest," Cordina confessed. "I was always fighting when I was playing rugby. I just didn't take any nonsense from anyone and wouldn't be bullied. It got me into trouble a lot, so I had to rein it in and put an end to it." Credit for Joe Cordina's boxing career belongs to his father, who introduced him to the sport at a young age. While he was initially hesitant, Cordina eventually gave it a shot, despite his initial fears. "If my dad said jump off a cliff, then I'm going to do it," Cordina quipped. "If he told me to jump into fire, I'd do it. I do whatever he says. I remember he asked me if I wanted a fight, and I thought, 'Why not? I'll give it a try.'" Cordina's first fight was held in a marquee, and he vividly recalls the anxiety he felt as he looked out through the tent, knowing his father was there to support him. "That first fight, it was at a marquee, and I'm looking out through the tent, and he's there," Cordina shared. "I just thought, 'Oh my God.' If he wasn't there, I would have grabbed my bag and left. I was scared, not going to lie." His fear stemmed from the possibility of embarrassment, the fear of losing, and the thought of letting down his family, particularly his father. He acknowledged that his father would have been proud of him regardless of the outcome, but the pressure to perform weighed heavily on him. Joe Cordina's journey from an unwilling boxer to a two-time world champion showcases the power of determination and the support of loved ones. As he prepares to defend his world super-featherweight title, he is ready to put it all on the line, motivated by the fear of losing and the responsibility of providing for his three children. Cordina's story is a testament to the unexpected paths life can take and the resilience that can emerge when faced with challenges.

WBA's Troubled Junior Welterweight Title Romero Designated as Champion in Recess

In a perplexing turn of events, the World Boxing Association (WBA) has added another layer of confusion to its junior welterweight title situation. The WBA stated that the title, which was previously believed to be vacant, still belongs to Rolando Romero. However, Romero, the controversial champion, is currently sidelined due to an injury, leading the WBA to designate him as the "champion in recess." This decision has raised eyebrows within the boxing community, as the WBA's handling of the 140-pound title has been nothing short of disastrous. The ongoing chaos began when Romero secured the title in a fight against Ismael Barroso, a bout that was marred by a highly criticized stoppage. Referee Tony Weeks halted the contest in round nine, even though no clean punch had landed to justify the stoppage. Barroso, a 40-year-old fighter, was ahead on all three scorecards at the time, making the decision to stop the fight all the more contentious. Many called for an immediate rematch, given the questionable outcome. However, the WBA ordered Romero to face Ohara Davies instead of granting Barroso the rematch he deserved. This decision only added to the controversy surrounding the title, leaving fans and experts bewildered by the WBA's actions. As the situation stands, Ohara Davies and Ismael Barroso are now set to contest the interim title, while Romero holds the "champion in recess" status. Barroso, who had been previously jobbed out of a championship due to the controversial stoppage, has been denied the opportunity to reclaim what many believe was rightfully his. The chaos surrounding the WBA's junior welterweight title has exposed flaws in the organization's decision-making and raises concerns about the credibility of boxing's sanctioning bodies. Fans and observers are left frustrated, hoping for a resolution that upholds the integrity of the sport. The WBA's handling of the 140-pound title serves as a reminder of the need for transparency and fair play in boxing, as controversies like these only serve to tarnish the sport's reputation.

International sensation "King" Ryan Garcia (23-1, 19 KOs) is all set for his highly anticipated comeback to the boxing ring in a thrilling showdown of knockout power against Mexico's Oscar "La Migraña" Duarte (26-1-1, 21 KOs) on Saturday, December 2. This super lightweight clash, scheduled for 12 rounds, is brought to you in association with Cancun Boxing and will be broadcast worldwide on DAZN as part of your subscription. In an enthusiastic announcement, Garcia shared, "Let's go! I am so excited to announce that I will be fighting Oscar Duarte on December 2. I'm back and feeling better and stronger than before. I wanted Duarte for me and for the fans. He's tough, and I'm ready to give people another show at my best weight again. Say whatever you want about Ryan Garcia, but I'm always going to give the fans what they want. Love you. See you on December 2 on DAZN." Despite being just 25 years old, "King" Ryan Garcia has risen to superstardom, proving himself as a major pay-per-view attraction. His recent bout against Gervonta "Tank" Davis in April 2023 pulled in over 1.2 million pay-per-view buys and generated a staggering $22.8 million gate at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, ranking among the top five best gates in Nevada boxing history. Known for his dynamic and thrilling boxing style, Garcia's rapid pace, devastating left hook, and a long list of knockout victories have captivated fans. He has previously held the WBC interim lightweight title and bested top contenders such as Olympic gold medalist Luke Campbell. His opponent, Oscar "La Migraña" Duarte, hailing from Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico, is a formidable contender in the lightweight division, known for his relentless aggression and defensive prowess. Duarte is unafraid to stand toe-to-toe with any opponent and has compiled a remarkable record of 11 consecutive knockout victories, avenging his sole loss to Adrian Estrella in 2019. Duarte has established himself as a knockout artist, having defeated fighters like D'Angelo Keyes, Alex Martin, and Javier Franco. Notably, Duarte is managed by award-winning actor, model, and television host Gabriel Soto, along with Cancun Boxing. Golden Boy Promotions' Chairman and CEO, Oscar De La Hoya, commented on the fight, saying, "This is one of the reasons fight fans love Ryan – instead of taking baby steps back after a hard-fought fight, he is returning against a guy with lethal power who doesn't take a step backward. Whoever emerges victorious is immediately in line for a shot against any of the current world champions. Fans won't want to miss this one." Jared Kass, SVP North America, DAZN Group, expressed his excitement for Ryan Garcia's return, saying, "It is great to have Ryan fighting again on DAZN in 2023. Ryan has been a key part of DAZN since our inception, and this showdown against Oscar Duarte will be part of a thrilling lineup in December." Stay tuned for further details on the venue, undercard, and ticketing information, which will be unveiled in the coming weeks. This electrifying match between Garcia and Duarte is destined to deliver fireworks and is not to be missed by boxing enthusiasts around the world.

Ngannou's Quest for Redemption The Desire for a Tyson Fury Rematch

Francis Ngannou, the former UFC champion from Cameroon, is making it clear that he's not content with his recent boxing debut against WBC titlist Tyson Fury. Despite being a heavy underdog, Ngannou surprised many with his impressive performance in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, last Saturday night. He even sent Fury to the canvas in the third round, in a fight that ultimately ended with Fury narrowly clinching a 10-round split decision victory. Ngannou firmly believes he deserved the win and has dubbed the result a "robbery." Now, Ngannou is vocal about his desire for a rematch with Tyson Fury. Speaking to TMZ, he stated, "The rematch is what I want next the most. As for right now, I feel like there is a lot of options for me, but I want to choose wisely. And I would go for the rematch first." However, the prospect of a Ngannou-Fury rematch is unlikely to materialize anytime soon, given that Fury is already scheduled to face Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight championship in February, also in Riyadh. Ngannou floated the idea of Usyk potentially stepping aside to allow the rematch to happen, but it remains highly improbable. Ngannou is currently under contract with the Professional Fighters League (PFL), although he hasn't made his debut in the organization yet. Exploring his options, he suggested that he might participate in an MMA fight in the spring before returning to the boxing ring later in the year. In Ngannou's words, "My best scenario in boxing is to wait for Fury. If Usyk can step out and let me fight Fury, I’ll fight Fury. Then I’ll let them do whatever they do. I’ll go back, maybe do some MMA fight and come back and take on some opponents in boxing. I’m planning to fight potentially twice next year, maybe in February or March. If it doesn’t work out, I can still fight in MMA in February or March. Then, by the end of the year, perhaps in October, as it will give me at least seven to eight months to recover from my MMA fight in case something happens." Francis Ngannou's determination to secure a rematch with Tyson Fury and his willingness to explore multiple combat sports avenues demonstrate his commitment to making a significant impact in the world of combat sports, regardless of the challenges he may face. Fans can only wait and watch to see how Ngannou's journey unfolds in the coming year.

Two Thrilling Title Fights A Glimpse into the Exciting World of Boxing

Last weekend witnessed a gripping junior lightweight title showdown between O’Shaquie Foster and Eduardo Hernandez that might not have received the same spotlight as Tyson Fury's encounter with Francis Ngannou, but it left fans spellbound. The eleventh round of the bout showcased one of the most spectacular frames of action in 2023. Coupled with the exhilarating Emanuel Navarette-Oscar Valdez clash earlier in the summer, these fights are injecting life and excitement into the 130-pound division. Now, the stage is set for Joe Cordina, a 31-year-old Welshman, to defend his IBF crown in the junior lightweight division against 28-year-old Texan Edward Vazquez (15-1, 3 KO) this Saturday, with the action exclusively available on DAZN at 3 PM EST. This fight marks Cordina's second appearance in the ring this year, following his triumphant return from an injury-induced hiatus. Cordina's victory over Shazkatdzhon Rakhimov earlier in the year adds to the growing list of compelling title fights in the division. If Cordina-Vazquez delivers an enthralling battle, following the Foster-Hernandez showdown, it could solidify the division's identity and pave the way for an exciting 2024. With the potential inclusion of a fascinating match between Hector Garcia and Lamont Roach later in the month, the junior lightweight division is becoming a hub for thrilling boxing action, both with established stars and rising talents. On the flip side, the undercard fight below Cordina-Vazquez presents a different story at junior flyweight. Kenshiro Teraji, the reigning lineal and unified champion at 108 pounds, holds two of the division's belts and has his sights set on a third. Earlier in the year, hopes were high for a unification clash with WBO titlist Jonathan Gonzalez, but due to illness, Gonzalez had to withdraw from a planned title defense against Gerardo Zapata. Nontshinga, the 24-year-old IBF titlist, appears to be in excellent health, and his fight against Adrian Curiel (23-4-1, 4 KO) on Saturday could hold significant implications for the division's unification goals, alongside the potential Gonzalez bout. Assuming Nontshinga secures a victory, it introduces an intriguing element to Teraji's pursuit. Teraji is 31, and Gonzalez is 32, making Nontshinga, standing out for his youth, a promising future challenger. As time passes, Nontshinga could only improve while his competitors age, making him a formidable contender. As we approach the weekend, we have two distinct tales of title fights – one that can continue the division's resurgence and another that could bring us closer to unification. Both fights, taking place in divisions teeming with excitement, offer fans an intriguing spectacle and provide a glimpse into the bigger picture of the boxing world. In other boxing news, the long-anticipated clash between Juan Francisco Estrada and Kazuto Ioka remains elusive, leaving fans wondering why this dream match has not yet materialized. Additionally, a bout between Francis Ngannou and Deontay Wilder would undoubtedly capture the imagination of boxing enthusiasts, and the closing date for Showtime Boxing on December 16th is fast approaching, marking the end of an era that is sure to be celebrated with a nostalgic tribute to the sport's history. Cliff Rold, the Managing Editor of BoxingScene, offers valuable insights into the boxing world, providing readers with a unique perspective on the sport's ongoing stories and potential future showdowns.

Now a leading contender in the super welterweight division, Kelly's return home, set in the shadow of the iconic Stadium of Light, promises to be an emotionally charged evening. Interestingly, Roarke Knapp from Johannesburg also shares a strong connection to the city of Sunderland. Like Kelly, he is a lifelong supporter of Sunderland AFC, thanks to his family ties. Knapp's father and grandparents were born in the city, and he proudly wears the badge of a Sunderland fan. Expressing his excitement, Josh Kelly remarked, "I’m so excited to be boxing back home, in Sunderland, for the first time as a professional. I can’t wait to put on a show and get dancing under those lights on December 16th, with the support of my city behind me." Roarke Knapp, who is eager to make his mark on the world stage, said, "This is my time to step it up, I belong with the best in the world, and what better way to cement my legacy and introduce myself to the world than in the UK? Kelly is a sublime talent, we’ve both got brilliant styles, and it’s going to be great to mix it up and see who the better man on the night is." Kalle Sauerland, Global Head of Boxing at Wasserman Boxing, emphasized the significance of this event, saying, "December 16 is the most important night of Josh Kelly’s career, and so making sure he has the backing of his home fans was vital. Josh is one of British boxing’s most gifted fighters, and now that he is entering his prime, he is ready for all-comers. To prove he is the best in the division, he’s prepared to take on anyone." This event adds to the excitement of a fantastic autumn boxing schedule, as Alfie Sharman, VP of DAZN, noted, "Josh Kelly has all the tools to become a World Champion, and on the 16th December, he takes a step closer to fulfilling that potential. Watch it live and exclusive, only on DAZN." Josh Kelly, currently ranked as the No. 1 contender by the WBO, holds lofty positions with the IBF and WBC as well. His opponent, Roarke Knapp, with a record of 17-1-1, has built his reputation in South Africa but is now ready to venture overseas to pursue his own world title aspirations. The matchup promises to be a thrilling spectacle and a historic moment for Sunderland's native son, Josh Kelly, as he takes on the world with his city's unwavering support.

Rematch Set Efe Ajagba and Joe Goodall Square Off After a Decade

In an exciting turn of events, Efe Ajagba and Joe Goodall are gearing up for a highly anticipated rematch scheduled for this Saturday, November 4th, at the Tahoe Blue Event Center in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. This bout promises to have a significant impact on the future of both fighters' careers. The pre-fight press conference delved into their shared history, harking back nearly a decade to their clash in the semifinals of the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. Surprisingly, Goodall emerged as the victor in that amateur contest, a result that continues to resonate with Ajagba. Reflecting on their past encounter, Ajagba revealed, "I lost to him in the Commonwealth Games in 2014. So, that’s the guy I lost to. This fight will be a rematch for me. This fight holds a special place in my heart because of that loss." True to his nickname 'The Silent Roller,' Ajagba may not be one for extensive pre-fight trash talk, but he emphasized his transformation inside the ring, saying, "The ‘Silent Roller’ is my nickname, so I’m going to come out as a beast in the fight. I’m silent outside, but in the ring, I’m a different guy." On the other side of the ring, Joe Goodall sees this bout as his golden ticket to greater things. This contest is for a secondary version of the WBC heavyweight title, and with uncertainties surrounding Tyson Fury's career, Goodall envisions it as his gateway to a potential world title opportunity. Having previously knocked out Stephan Shaw in July, Goodall is determined to take on one of the most active fighters in the heavyweight division, Efe Ajagba. He stated, "I’m going to come into the ring with a ferocious spirit. I’m going to bring everything—training, sparring, everything I’ve got. I've been knocking people out in sparring, and I’m going to bring that into the fight." This match represents more than just a sporting competition; it's a battle for respect. Ajagba aims to set the record straight regarding his past loss to Goodall in the amateur ranks. On the other hand, Goodall is eager to establish himself as a heavyweight contender, proving that his previous win against Shaw was no fluke. The winner of this contest is poised for significant opportunities in the heavyweight division, with Ajagba seeking to reaffirm his position among the top-ten heavyweights after a strong comeback year following his loss to Frank Sanchez. Meanwhile, Goodall aims to prove that he belongs among the world's elite heavyweights. In the world of boxing, history has shown us that amateur losses can be avenged in the professional realm. Mike Tyson famously lost to Henry Tillman in the amateurs but later triumphed over him as a professional. As the countdown to Saturday's rematch begins, fans eagerly await the outcome of this intriguing showdown between Efe Ajagba and Joe Goodall. This event holds the potential to shape the future of these two skilled fighters and further ignite their rivalry on a grand stage.

Andy Ruiz Calls Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou Bout a 'Robbery'

Former world heavyweight champion, Andy Ruiz, has strongly criticized the officiating in last weekend's much-anticipated clash between Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou, branding it a 'robbery.' The bout featured Ngannou making his boxing debut against the reigning WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury. Despite dropping Fury during the match, Ngannou lost a controversial split decision, leaving many in the boxing community outraged. Ruiz, who notably defeated Anthony Joshua in a stunning upset, is presently in recovery following surgery and has plans to re-enter the division's top echelons. However, he couldn't stay silent after witnessing the outcome of this colossal crossover battle. "Recovering and watching this crazy fight yesterday. It was a robbery. Francis won," Ruiz boldly declared on his Instagram page. The bout between Fury and Ngannou was a clash of titans from different combat sports, with many boxing fans and MMA enthusiasts eagerly anticipating the showdown. Visa Issue Delays Makabu at WBC Cruiserweight Title Fight Press Conference

Renowned promoter Don King remains unfazed as Ilunga Junior Makabu misses the final pre-fight press conference ahead of his WBC cruiserweight title bout against Noel Mikaelyan. The showdown is set to headline a Pay-Per-View event this Saturday at Casino Miami Jai Alai in Miami, Florida. All participants graced the promotional event's stage except for Makabu, the former titleholder, who is currently en route from Johannesburg, South Africa. "Makabu sent me a message, assuring me he'll be here," said King with a smile, highlighting the visa issue that currently detains the Congolese southpaw (29-3, 25KOs). King remains confident that the issue will be resolved in time for Saturday's event. Makabu, aged 35, seeks to reclaim the WBC cruiserweight title he held for three years. His previous defeat came at the hands of Badou Jack, who has since vacated the title. Notably, Makabu's opportunity for a title shot comes against the very challenger he previously sidestepped in favor of facing Jack. Noel Mikaelyan, the mandatory challenger for over a year, has been patiently waiting for his shot at the title. The Armenia-born, German boxer, has no qualms about the delay, stating, "I don't care. The most important thing is that he's in the ring on Saturday. If not, then I will be very disappointed." Makabu vs. Mikaelyan will be broadcast live on DonKing.com and Fite TV, starting at 8:00 p.m. ET. The Pay-Per-View event is available for purchase at a suggested retail price of $19.99 plus tax. Enjoy the thrilling contest as two skilled fighters vie for the prestigious WBC cruiserweight title.

Sam Goodman Aims for World Title Showdown

Australian undefeated boxer, Sam Goodman, is ready to make a name for himself as he headlines his first major No Limit boxing card in Sydney this December. Having already achieved an impressive record of 16 wins, including victories over two top-five fighters in his last three bouts, the super bantamweight is eager to use this opportunity to secure a world title fight, with Japanese superstar Naoya Inoue being a potential opponent. Despite being ranked No. 1 for both the WBO and IBF titles, Goodman understands that he may have to wait until after Christmas to determine his next opponent, especially if Inoue chooses to chase bigger fights in higher weight classes. However, Goodman is not one to sit idle and wait for others to dictate his career. He and his manager, Pete Mitrevski, are open to pursuing other title opportunities, possibly even in the featherweight division, if it presents a better chance. They are determined to stay active and continue taking on challenging opponents to ensure they are ready for a world title shot when the opportunity arises. While Goodman acknowledges Inoue's greatness, he firmly believes that every fighter is beatable, and he is prepared to challenge Inoue for all the belts if the Japanese star decides to stay in the division. He is focused on his own journey and remains confident in his ability to make a mark in the world of boxing. Being the headliner for a No Limit boxing card is a significant step in Goodman's career, marking his rise in the sport. He is determined to continue building towards his goal of a world title shot and is ready to face any challenge that comes his way.

Palmetta Secures Competitive Decision Over Bocachica, Angelo Leo Makes Stylish Return

In a highly competitive main event on ProBox TV in Florida, Janelson Bocachica and Alberto Palmetta engaged in a back-and-forth battle that kept fans on the edge of their seats. Throughout the fight, neither fighter managed to gain complete control, resulting in a closely contested matchup. Bocachica (17-2-1, 11 KO) struggled to maintain a significant lead, which limited the impact of his punches. On the other hand, Palmetta (19-2, 13 KO) showed his aggression by constantly closing the distance, but struggled to find clean opportunities for his power shots. Scoring this fight proved to be a challenging task. Bocachica appeared to land cleaner punches when he threw, while Palmetta displayed higher intensity and activity. Although unofficially, I scored it 96-94 in favor of Bocachica, it was reasonable to see it scored as wide as 98-92 in either fighter's favor. The official judges rendered scores of 97-93, 96-94, 96-94, all in favor of Palmetta. Bocachica may regret taking the 9th round off, as it allowed Palmetta to secure one of the few clear rounds of the fight. A stronger effort in that round, or more focus on offense during the rounds in which he taunted and mimicked his opponent, could have altered the outcome to at least a draw. In the chief support, Angelo Leo and Nicolas Polanco engaged in a thrilling contest with minimal breaks. Leo (22-1, 10 KO) had been absent from the ring for nearly two and a half years but returned with a flurry of powerful hooks. Polanco (20-5-1, 11 KO) responded with crisp counters whenever possible but found little room to breathe or operate. Leo's relentless attack held up against Polanco's sporadic return shots. However, the fight took an unexpected turn when Polanco injured his left arm, possibly dislocating his shoulder. The referee stopped the fight after a medical evaluation, despite Polanco's objections, making it a sound decision. Polanco had not secured a victory since 2021 and was unlikely to change that trend in this bout. Nonetheless, the match provided fantastic action and is well worth a rewatch. Additionally, Mykell Gamble (6-0, 4 KO) delivered a quick and decisive victory over Carlos Rocha (3-2, 2 KO) with a perfectly timed counter left hand in the first round. Rocha made valiant efforts to continue, but he stumbled and fell, resembling a classic knockout animation from a video game. In the world of boxing, these matchups brought excitement, drama, and memorable moments to the fans.

Undefeated WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo is all set for his ring comeback, with a confirmed date of Saturday, November 25th at the Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas. Charlo will face former world title challenger Jose Benavidez Jr. This 10-round non-title bout at 160 lbs serves as the co-main event of the card, which will be headlined by the highly anticipated match between David Benavidez and Demetrius Andrade, live on Showtime PPV. The fight card also features IBF super lightweight champion Subriel Matias defending his title in a 12-round bout against Shohjahon Ergashev. Furthermore, Hector Luis Garcia will defend his WBA super featherweight title in a 12-round pay-per-view opener against former title challenger Lamont Roach. In the main event, undefeated two-time WBC super middleweight champion David Benavidez will take on unbeaten two-division world champion Demetrius Andrade. Benavidez, who holds the interim WBC super middleweight title, and Andrade will battle for the chance to challenge Canelo Alvarez for his undisputed 168-pound crown. Tom Brown, President of TGB Promotions, expressed his excitement about the fight card, stating, "Boxing fans will get a full feast of action on November 25 with three high-stakes fights leading up to the Showtime PPV main event between David Benavidez and Demetrius Andrade. Jermall Charlo will look to show why he’s the top middleweight in the world against the highly-motivated Jose Benavidez Jr." Jermall Charlo, with a flawless record of 31-0 and 22 knockouts, returns to the ring for the first time since his unanimous decision victory over Juan Macias Montiel in June 2021. Charlo also retained his WBC middleweight belt by defeating Sergiy Derevyanchenko in September 2020. Jose Benavidez Jr, hailing from Panorama City, California, with a record of 28-2-1 and 19 KOs, is eager to face Charlo after stopping Sladan Janjanin in the fifth round in his recent bout in August. Although he faced a setback with a majority decision loss against Danny Garcia in July 2022, he is determined to prove his mettle in the ring. The fight card promises a night of action-packed bouts, and fans can look forward to witnessing top-notch boxing on November 25th, where each fight could potentially steal the show. With Jermall Charlo's return and the clash between David Benavidez and Demetrius Andrade, the stage is set for an unforgettable night of boxing in Las Vegas.

Ryan Garcia Declares Francis Ngannou His Heavyweight Champion

Ryan Garcia, the 25-year-old boxing sensation, is no stranger to being called out by fighters from different sports. While his in-ring skills have drawn attention from pugilistic contemporaries, it's his social media presence that has garnered even more visibility. Notably, fighters from the world of mixed martial arts (MMA), particularly the UFC, have expressed interest in challenging boxers, sparking debates over the feasibility of such crossover contests. The trend of fighters crossing boundaries was initiated by Conor McGregor's boxing bout against Floyd Mayweather in 2017. Although Mayweather secured a 10th-round knockout victory, it didn't deter UFC fighters from calling out boxers. Among them, Francis Ngannou stood out, expressing a desire to transition from the octagon to the boxing ring, with his sights set on Tyson Fury. However, his contract with the UFC prevented him from pursuing both MMA and boxing simultaneously. Once Ngannou's contract with the UFC concluded, he seized the opportunity to enter the world of boxing. While the idea of a matchup between Ngannou and Fury initially elicited laughter and skepticism within the boxing community, it became a reality in Saudi Arabia last Saturday. Ryan Garcia, despite his doubts about Ngannou's chances, tuned in to watch the contest. He wasn't anticipating a competitive fight but remained curious about the outcome. The opening round saw both fighters cautiously feeling each other out, while in the second round, Garcia nearly toppled his television set as Ngannou knocked down his opponent. Throughout the bout, Ngannou continued to have his moments, even though Fury mounted a comeback. Ultimately, the judges delivered a close split decision in favor of Fury, though Garcia isn't overly concerned about the result on the scorecards. With his experience in the world of boxing, Garcia understands how to score a fight. To Ryan Garcia, the official outcome doesn't matter much. He has taken a different perspective, considering Francis Ngannou as his "heavyweight champ of the world." This declaration reflects the ongoing blurring of lines between boxing and MMA, where fighters from different disciplines continue to explore exciting crossover opportunities.

Jorge Masvidal Expresses Doubt About Deontay Wilder Facing Francis Ngannou in MMA

Former UFC fighter turned bare-knuckle MMA promoter, Jorge Masvidal, has voiced skepticism about the proposed MMA showdown between Deontay Wilder and Francis Ngannou. Masvidal's comments came during an appearance on the MMA Hour, where he discussed Wilder's foray into MMA training and the potential crossover fight between the two heavyweight powerhouses. Masvidal acknowledged that Deontay Wilder has been dedicating time to MMA training, suggesting that a crossover fight might be in the cards. He noted, "That is something that can potentially happen, Deontay Wilder, for a couple of months, for a little while now, has been training MMA…that’s something that makes sense." However, Masvidal raised doubts about the wisdom of such a matchup, particularly in the context of Ngannou's formidable skills in the octagon. He emphasized that if Ngannou opted to take the fight to the ground, Wilder would be at a significant disadvantage. Masvidal opined, "He wouldn’t last two minutes if Ngannou chooses to take him down, the fight is over." Ngannou's capabilities in wrestling and submissions at the UFC level make him a daunting opponent for Wilder, who lacks the grappling experience necessary to compete at the same level. Masvidal argued that Wilder's preparation over the last decade has been primarily focused on boxing, rendering him unprepared for the completely different world of MMA. Currently, Masvidal is involved in promoting the GameBred BareKnuckle MMA event scheduled for November 10th, which features notable matchups such as Alan Belcher vs. Roy Nelson, along with other UFC fighters like Hector Lombard and Jason Knight. While Wilder's potential crossover into MMA is generating buzz, the skepticism expressed by Masvidal highlights the significant challenges Wilder could face against someone of Ngannou's caliber in the MMA arena.

Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Discussing Blockbuster Rematch

In a surprising turn of events, boxing legends Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather are reportedly in discussions for a potential rematch, over eight years after their much-hyped "fight of the century." Pacquiao, who had officially retired following his defeat to Yordenis Ugas in August 2021, has ventured into the world of exhibition matches, much like Mayweather. The 44-year-old Pacquiao hinted at the possibility of squaring off against Mayweather again, a prospect that has piqued the interest of boxing fans worldwide. Pacquiao, who is still actively training, shared the exciting news during an interview with Fight Hub TV. He disclosed that he has an exhibition match scheduled for December, which is slated to take place in Japan. When pressed further about the details of his next in-ring appearance, Pacquiao dropped the bombshell that negotiations were underway with Mayweather for a potential fight. This revelation has fueled speculation about whether the match could transcend the realm of exhibitions and become a professional bout, thereby putting Mayweather's iconic 50-0 unbeaten record at stake. The last time these two boxing legends clashed was in May 2015, when Mayweather emerged victorious via a unanimous decision, despite Pacquiao's tenacity and determination. The prospect of a rematch has reignited the competitive fire within Pacquiao, who appears eager for another opportunity to test his skills against the undefeated Mayweather. In addition to his ambitions for a Mayweather rematch, Pacquiao is eyeing a surprising return to the 2024 Olympics in Paris. He revealed that his nation has submitted a request to the Olympics Committee to allow him to participate, despite the age limit typically associated with Olympic boxing. If granted the opportunity, Pacquiao intends to compete in the Olympics, demonstrating that his passion for the sport knows no bounds. The potential rematch between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather has the boxing world buzzing with anticipation. It remains to be seen whether these negotiations will lead to a monumental bout that could redefine the legacies of these two all-time greats.
