Tyson Fury Shuts Down Retirement Talk, Promises Rematch with Francis Ngannou: "I'm Going Nowhere!"
Tyson Fury has quashed any rumors of retirement and instead has his sights set on future boxing matches, including a rematch with Francis Ngannou, despite the recent postponement of his bout with Oleksandr Usyk.
The British boxing sensation recently withdrew from his scheduled clash with Usyk due to a severe cut sustained during sparring, delaying their showdown for the undisputed heavyweight championship until May 18th in Saudi Arabia. Despite speculation that this fight could mark the end of Fury’s career, the lineal heavyweight champion is adamant that he’s far from hanging up his gloves.
In a video message shared on social media, Fury assured fans that retirement is not on the cards for him, outlining his plans for several future bouts. Alongside the Usyk fight, Fury expressed his desire to face Anthony Joshua, potentially in a rematch, as well as Francis Ngannou, the MMA fighter whom Fury narrowly defeated in their first boxing match last October.
“I ain’t retiring anywhere,” Fury asserted. “I’ve got two fights with Usyk, for the undisputed. Twice. Then, I’m going to fight ‘AJ’ once, maybe twice if there’s a rematch. If he wants one, after the first battering of him.”
Fury went on to emphasize his readiness to face Ngannou again, hinting at a potential rematch following their closely contested initial bout. Despite Ngannou’s unexpected prowess in the ring, Fury remains undeterred and eager to renew their rivalry.
The prospect of a rematch between Fury and Ngannou has sparked considerable interest among fans, given the drama and excitement of their first encounter. Although logistical challenges may have initially delayed a rematch, Fury’s recent comments indicate his continued interest in facing Ngannou again in the future.
As Fury reaffirms his commitment to the sport and outlines his ambitious plans for future fights, anticipation continues to build for the resumption of his rivalry with Ngannou and his quest for boxing supremacy in the heavyweight division.
