Lưu Tú Bảo Takes the Helm to Elevate National Boxing
Lưu Tú Bảo, the President of the HCM City Boxing Federation, is poised to lead national boxing to new heights following his unanimous election as the President of the Việt Nam Boxing Federation (VBF) at the recent National Congress in HCM City.
At the congress held on October 15, Bảo secured the support of all delegates as the 27-member Executive Committee for the second term from 2023-2028 was elected.
Lưu Tú Bảo is not only a prominent figure within the VBF but also a well-known name in the professional boxing community. He is the driving force behind the Saigon Sports Club (SSC), which stands as one of the premier fitness and martial arts gyms in Việt Nam. SSC, known as Asia’s largest mixed martial arts and cross-training center, offers diverse disciplines catering to individuals of all skill levels, including boxing.
SSC has played a pivotal role in hosting and organizing numerous international boxing competitions, including the WBA Asia Boxing Championship, SSC Championship Events, and SSC Interclub Boxing & Muay Thai tournaments. These events have garnered attention and acclaim from fighters, experts, and enthusiasts across the continent.
Furthermore, SSC has been a steadfast strategic partner and sponsor of the VBF since 2022, contributing substantial resources to training activities and the organization of national competitions.
As Bảo takes on his new role as VBF President, he will be supported by a team of five Vice Presidents, with Nguyễn Duy Hùng, the General Secretary of the Military Martial Arts Federation and VBF, serving as one of them.
Addressing the congress, Đặng Hà Việt, Director of the Sports Authority of Việt Nam (SAV), acknowledged the accomplishments of the VBF in the previous term and extended his congratulations to the newly elected executive committee, particularly President Lưu Tú Bảo. Việt emphasized that despite previous achievements, there are persistent challenges that have hindered the robust development of boxing. He expressed hope that the new leadership, under President Bảo’s guidance, will effectively address these issues and steer the sport towards greater success in the near future.
The congress participants deliberated on the plans for the upcoming term, focusing on initiatives such as boosting participation in boxing, intensifying efforts in recruitment, training, coaching, and the organization of competitions. Moreover, the VBF will collaborate with the SAV and local authorities to host high-quality and equitable national tournaments, all while strengthening ties with international boxing organizations.
A core objective of the VBF’s strategy will be to secure sponsorships and mobilize social resources to support its activities, with the ultimate goal of securing a place at the 2024 Paris Olympics and achieving commendable results at the 2026 Asian Games.
The Việt Nam Boxing Federation, under the guidance of President Lưu Tú Bảo, is set to embark on a journey of growth and development, with a vision to elevate the sport to new heights on the global stage.
