Jermall Charlo Set to Face Jose Benavidez Jr Demetrius Andrade's Bold Prediction

Jermall Charlo, the once-busy Houston native and former two-division champion, is making a return to the boxing ring. His career seemed to have hit a roadblock, but he’s ready to get back in action. In his last fight against Juan Macias Montiel, Charlo faced some adversity but managed to secure a unanimous decision victory.

Following that win, Charlo had an array of enticing options in front of him. He could have pursued a bout with Gennadiy Golovkin, sought a showdown with Jaime Munguia, or aimed to unify the middleweight division. Any of these choices would have thrilled the fans, but instead, he found himself in a boxing purgatory of sorts. However, Charlo is all set to end his layoff and return to the ring on November 25th. On that date, he will face Jose Benavidez Jr. as part of the undercard for the much-anticipated clash between Demetrius Andrade and David Benavidez.

Demetrius Andrade, upon learning of the upcoming bout, expressed his appreciation for the support but also revealed his surprise at the match between Benavidez Jr. and Charlo. Benavidez Jr. has primarily competed in lower weight classes, including super lightweight. While he’s had occasional forays into the 154 and 160-pound divisions, he has yet to establish himself as a significant title threat since his fight against Terence Crawford at 140 pounds nearly five years ago.

Given the notable difference in size and power, Andrade is skeptical about Benavidez Jr.’s chances of making the fight competitive. In fact, he boldly predicts that Charlo will make quick work of his opponent, expecting a knockout victory.

“I mean, he’s fighting somebody that fights at 140,” Andrade stated in a recent interview. “I don’t think somebody at 140 is gonna give him a hard time. I think he should knock him out, honestly.”

The upcoming clash between Jermall Charlo and Jose Benavidez Jr. promises to be an intriguing battle, and fans are eagerly awaiting the outcome. With Charlo’s return to the ring, the boxing world will be watching closely to see if Demetrius Andrade’s prediction holds true.
