IS EDDIE HEARN RIGHT ABOUT MIKE TYSON BEING ‘SHOT TO PIECES’ BEFORE JAKE PAUL FIGHT?

Eddie Hearn didn’t mince words when discussing the upcoming fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, scheduled for November 15 at AT&T Stadium. The Matchroom Boxing promoter, while promoting another fight, expressed his strong disapproval of the match, calling Tyson "shot to pieces" and questioning why the 58-year-old boxing legend is stepping back into the ring.

Hearn, who has been vocal about maintaining the integrity of boxing, believes Tyson should not be fighting again, particularly against a social media influencer like Jake Paul. “Anyone that thinks that Tyson should be in the ring right now either doesn’t have his best interests at heart or is an idiot,” Hearn told the Daily Mail. He further emphasized that Jake Paul, while not a professional boxer, trains hard and poses a real threat.

Mike Tyson, who first won the heavyweight title in 1986, last fought in 2020 in a lackluster exhibition against Roy Jones Jr., ending in a split draw. The fight, originally scheduled for July, was postponed due to Tyson suffering from an ulcer flare-up. This return to the ring has sparked widespread criticism, but it hasn’t stopped the hype surrounding the event.

Hearn acknowledged the commercial appeal of the match but remained firm on his stance. “It’s a big event, I get it. But for someone who idolized the guy growing up, it’s not the best day,” Hearn said. The promoter is no stranger to celebrity-driven boxing events, having organized the 2019 fight between Jake Paul’s brother Logan Paul and KSI, but he made it clear he won’t be promoting such fights again.

Tyson vs. Paul will air live on Netflix, promising to draw massive attention, though Hearn hopes it won’t set a dangerous precedent for future boxing events.
