Mateusz Masternak, born on May 2, 1987, in Iwaniska, Poland, is a prominent professional boxer competing in the Cruiserweight division. Notably, he has held the EBU (European) Cruiserweight championship during his career.

Masternak’s journey in the world of boxing began in his early years. He initially trained at the KSZO Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski club before moving to Wrocław at the age of 15, where he continued his boxing training at the Gwardia Wrocław club. He attended Primary School No. 19 in Wrocław during this time.

His amateur career reached a crucial turning point in 2005 when he claimed the junior championship of Poland in the Middleweight category (75 kg). This success earned him a spot on the national junior team. His first appearance in the national team occurred during the Junior Championship of Europe in Tallinn, where he reached the quarter-finals. Masternak continued to make his mark in amateur boxing, securing numerous victories and accolades.

In March 2006, Mateusz Masternak made the transition to professional boxing. His first four professional fights took place in the United States, but due to financial issues with his promoter, he returned to Poland. In May 2007, he signed a contract with the CENG AG professional group.

Masternak’s professional journey included a significant victory on October 3, where he won the WBC Youth Cruiserweight title by defeating Alex Mogylewski from Ukraine via a fifth-round knockout.

In October 2009, during the Polsat Boxing Night in Łódź, he secured a technical knockout victory against another Polish Cruiserweight, Łukasz Janik. This event was part of the highly anticipated clash between Andrew Golota and Tomasz Adamek, promoted as the “Polish Fight of the Century.”

Masternak’s WBC title defenses were equally impressive, culminating in victories by technical knockouts and a stoppage win against Jameson Bostic.

In March 6, 2010, during the Diamond Boxing Night in Katowice, Masternak emerged victorious against Faisal Ibnel Arrami in the eighth round via a technical knockout.

Three months later, on June 19, 2010, in Kielce, Masternak defeated Lewan Jomardashvili by exerting immense pressure and securing a victory by stoppage.

On November 5, 2010, he continued his winning streak by defeating Ismail Abdoul by unanimous decision.

Mateusz Masternak’s journey in professional boxing included a notable bout on December 12, 2015, where he faced England’s Tony Bellew for the EBU European cruiserweight title. Bellew emerged as the victor, and the judges’ scores favored him.

Masternak’s career continued with a technical knockout victory against Youri Kayembre Kalenga on April 21, 2018.

In the quarter-final bout of the World Boxing Super Series cruiserweight tournament on October 20, 2018, Masternak faced Yunier Dorticos, ultimately losing by unanimous decision.
