Marlon Tapales, born on March 23, 1992, is a highly accomplished Filipino professional boxer. He has made his mark in two weight classes, currently holding the unified WBA (Super) and IBF super-bantamweight titles since April 2023. In the past, he also held the WBO bantamweight title from 2016 to 2017.

Tapales’ professional journey has been marked by notable encounters, including a loss to future world titlist David Sánchez.

In 2016, he achieved a significant milestone by capturing the World Boxing Organization bantamweight world title with a victory over Pungluang Sor Singyu.

One of the key moments in Tapales’ career was his bout with Ryosuke Iwasa on December 7, 2019, where they fought for the vacant IBF super bantamweight title. Iwasa emerged victorious with an eleventh-round TKO.

Another noteworthy fight took place on December 11, 2021, when Tapales faced Teshigawara, who was ranked #3 by the IBF at super bantamweight. Tapales displayed his skill and determination, securing a victory with a stoppage within two rounds.
