About

Liam Mark Smith, born on 27 July 1988, is a professional British boxer who held the WBO light-middleweight title from 2015 to 2016. Raised in Liverpool with five siblings, Liam started boxing at Rotunda ABC during his teenage years, which he credits for keeping him away from trouble on the streets.

As an amateur, he fought for Rotunda ABC and became a two-time winner of the ABA Championships in 2007 and 2008 at light welterweight. Liam turned professional on 10 October 2008 at light-middleweight, winning his debut fight against Duncan Cottier by points. Over the years, he built a successful professional career, securing regional championships like the British and Commonwealth titles between 2012 and 2015.

In 2015, he won the vacant Commonwealth light-middleweight title by defeating Steve O’Meara in a twelve-round fight at the ExCel Arena in London. Liam also claimed the British light-middleweight title in a tough match against Erick Ochieng at the Olympia, which he successfully defended against Mark Thompson and Jason Welborn. He also won the WBA Continental light-middleweight title by defeating Zoltan Sera and the WBO Inter-Continental light-middleweight title by beating David Ezequiel Romero.

Liam comes from a family of boxers, with his older brothers Paul and Stephen, and younger brother Callum, all being professional boxers as well. His journey in boxing has been remarkable, filled with numerous victories and championships throughout his career.
