Olajide Olayinka Williams “JJ” Olatunji, known professionally as KSI, is a multi-talented English personality, YouTuber, rapper, and boxer. He gained prominence as a member of the British YouTube group called the Sidemen, which he co-founded. KSI’s main YouTube account was registered in 2009, where he initially gained popularity by posting gaming commentary videos related to the FIFA video game series. Over time, he diversified his content to include vlogs and comedy-style videos. As of October 2022, he has amassed over 41 million subscribers and over 10 billion video views across his three YouTube channels.
In addition to his successful YouTube career, KSI has ventured into the music industry, releasing two studio albums. His debut album, “Dissimulation,” debuted at number 2 on the UK Albums Chart, and his second album, “All Over the Place,” debuted at number 1. He has also achieved significant success in the UK Singles Chart, with multiple top 40 singles, seven of which reached the Top 10.
KSI has also made appearances in films and documentaries. He was featured in the British comedy film “Laid in America” (2016), and the documentary “KSI: Can’t Lose” (2018) followed his journey in preparing for his first amateur boxing match against fellow YouTuber Joe Weller. Additionally, the Amazon Prime Video documentary “KSI: In Real Life” (2023) provides an insight into his life from June 2021 to October 2022.
KSI has been actively involved in boxing events, particularly notable for his two bouts against American YouTuber Logan Paul, one of which was a professional fight. He has participated in several exhibition boxing matches, including victories against British rapper Swarmz and Mexican boxer Luis Alcaraz Pineda. He also won an exhibition bout against FaZe Temperrr in the first round via knockout but had an exhibition bout against Joe Fournier turned into a no contest due to an accidental elbow strike.
His upcoming boxing match is scheduled against British professional boxer Tommy Fury on 14 October 2023.
KSI was born on 19 June 1993 in London and raised in Watford, Hertfordshire. His parents are from the Yoruba ethnic group, with his mother, Yinka Atinuke, hailing from Islington, London. He attended Berkhamsted School in Berkhamsted, where he met Simon Minter, who later became a collaborator and fellow Sidemen member.
KSI’s younger brother, Deji Olatunji, is also a YouTuber, and both brothers were ranked as the “UK’s Most Influential YouTube Creators” by Tubular Labs in 2015, with KSI in the first position and Deji in the second.
