Juan Francisco Estrada, the Mexican boxing sensation, has faced numerous challenges on his path to greatness. Losing his parents at the tender age of seven, he was raised by his aunt and found solace in boxing by the age of nine. By 15, Estrada had relocated from Puerto Peñasco to Hermosillo to pursue his boxing career in earnest.

Amateur Career: Estrada’s amateur record was an impressive 94–4, setting the stage for his professional debut on August 30, 2008, at 18. Two years later, he claimed his first regional title by defeating Manuel Almendariz via TKO for the WBC Mundo Hispano super flyweight belt. Despite suffering an early loss to Juan Carlos Sánchez Jr., Estrada’s resilience saw him rise through the ranks.

Campeón Azteca Victory: In 2011, Estrada participated in Campeón Azteca: Round 3, a reality show that showcased his talent. He fought his way to the final, avenging his earlier defeat to Sánchez Jr. with a dramatic TKO victory.

Title Fights and Championships: Estrada’s first world title challenge came against Román González in 2012, where he narrowly lost by unanimous decision. Undeterred, Estrada claimed the WBA (Super) and WBO Flyweight titles in 2013 by defeating Brian Viloria. He defended these titles multiple times, showcasing his refined technique and precise punching.

Super Flyweight Campaign: After three and a half years as a unified flyweight champion, Estrada moved up to the super flyweight division in 2016. He continued to excel, securing a victory against Carlos Cuadras in 2017 and challenging Srisaket Sor Rungvisai for the WBC and The Ring super flyweight titles in 2018.

Recent Fights: Estrada has faced top competitors, including a trilogy with Román González. Their 2021 rematch saw Estrada win by split decision, and the third bout in 2022 ended in a majority decision for Estrada. Up next, Estrada will defend his WBC super flyweight title against Jesse Rodriguez on June 29, 2024, in Phoenix, AZ.

Juan Francisco Estrada’s journey from tragedy to triumph is a testament to his unwavering dedication and skill in the boxing ring.
