About

If you are a fan of boxing, you may have heard of Jaron Ennis, the rising star in the welterweight division. Ennis is an undefeated fighter who has held the IBF interim welterweight title since January 2023, after defeating Karen Chukhadzhian by unanimous decision. He is also known by his nickname “Boots”, which he got from his father when he was a baby in the gym. But how did Ennis become one of the most promising boxers in the world? Here is a brief biography of his life and career so far.

Ennis was born on June 26, 1997, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. He comes from a boxing family, as his father, Derrick “Bozy” Ennis, was a boxer, and so were both of his older brothers. Ennis started boxing at a very young age, and he was always around the gym, watching and learning from his father and brothers. He developed an ambidextrous style, which allows him to switch between orthodox and southpaw stances with ease. He also has a mix of power and finesse, which makes him a dangerous opponent for anyone.

Ennis had a successful amateur career, winning 58 out of 61 fights. He won a silver and gold medal at the U.S. National Golden Gloves Championships in 2014 and 2015 respectively. He also won the USA Youth National Championships in 2015. He nearly qualified for the 2016 Olympics, but he lost a controversial final bout to Gary Antuanne Russell, who won the trials. Ennis felt that he was robbed of his chance to represent his country, but he did not let that stop him from pursuing his professional dreams.

Ennis made his professional debut on April 30, 2016, knocking out Cory Muldrew in the first round. He fought eight more times in 2016, winning all of them by stoppage or decision. He continued his impressive run in 2017, winning eight more fights, all by knockout or technical knockout. He faced tougher opposition in 2018 and 2019, but he still dominated his opponents, winning six more fights by stoppage. He also showcased his versatility, fighting in different weight classes and venues.

Ennis faced his biggest test in 2020, when he fought former world title challenger Sergey Lipinets on April 10. Ennis proved that he was ready for the elite level, as he knocked out Lipinets in the sixth round with a devastating uppercut. He then fought Chris van Heerden for the vacant IBO welterweight title on December 19, but the fight ended in a no contest after van Heerden suffered a cut from an accidental head clash in the first round.

Ennis bounced back from that disappointment in 2021, when he fought Thomas Dulorme on October 30. Ennis showed his explosive power once again, as he knocked out Dulorme in the first round with a left hook to the body. He then fought Custio Clayton on May 14, 2022, and knocked him out in the second round with a right hand to the chin.

Ennis finally got his chance to fight for a major title on January 7, 2023, when he faced Karen Chukhadzhian for the vacant IBF interim welterweight title. Ennis displayed his superior skills and speed throughout the fight, as he outboxed and outworked Chukhadzhian for 12 rounds. He won by unanimous decision, with scores of 120-108, 119-109, and 118-110.

Ennis is now one of the top contenders in the welterweight division, and he has his sights set on fighting the best fighters in the world. He has called out names like Errol Spence Jr., Terence Crawford, Shawn Porter, and Manny Pacquiao. He believes that he has what it takes to beat them all and become the undisputed champion of the world.

Ennis is not only a talented boxer, but also a humble and respectful person outside the ring. He credits his father and brothers for his success, and he dedicates his fights to his mother and grandmother. He is also a devout Muslim who prays five times a day and fasts during Ramadan. He is an inspiration to many young people who want to follow their dreams.

Jaron Ennis is one of the most exciting boxers to watch today. He has a bright future ahead of him, and he is determined to make history in the sport. He is not just “Boots”, he is “Boots” Ennis.
