In a pivotal moment on September 24, 2021, O’Quinn stepped into the ring against Saul Sanchez in the main event of the “ShoBox: The New Generation” card. Unfortunately, adversity struck as O’Quinn suffered a first-round technical knockout. Knocked down three times in less than two minutes, referee Gary Ritter made the decision to halt the bout.

Undeterred by setbacks, O’Quinn showcased resilience in his comeback. Scheduled to face Jobert Alvarez on April 15, 2022, on the UFC Fight Pass broadcast event undercard, O’Quinn demonstrated his determination. The result was a unanimous decision victory, with all three judges scoring the bout 80–72 in his favor. This win marked O’Quinn’s return to the winner’s circle.
