Galal Yafai MBE, a British professional boxer, achieved significant success in both his amateur and professional careers. Born on December 11, 1992, to Yemeni parents, he comes from a family of boxers, with his brothers Kal Yafai and Gamal Yafai also pursuing the sport. Galal was honored with the title of Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2022 New Year Honours for his contributions to boxing.
During his amateur career, Galal represented England in the light-flyweight division and secured notable victories. He won a silver medal at the 2017 European Championships, followed by a gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. In the flyweight division, while representing Great Britain, he earned a bronze medal at the 2019 European Games. Galal also participated in the 2016 Rio Olympics and secured his spot in the games by defeating Samuel Carmona Heredia of Spain in the semifinals of the 2016 European Boxing Olympic Qualification Tournament.

On February 27, 2022, he made his professional debut by facing Carlos Vado Bautista for the vacant WBC International flyweight title. He secured a fifth-round technical knockout, capturing the regional title. He continued his success by defending his WBC International flyweight title against Miguel Cartagena on April 30, 2022, during his debut in the United States. The fight ended via a second-round corner retirement.
