Etinosa Oliha, born on June 13, 1998, in Turin to immigrant parents from Nigeria, has a fascinating journey in both his personal and sporting life. At the age of five, his family moved to Asti, Italy, where he grew up alongside his older brother and two older sisters.
After completing his education, Oliha embarked on a different path, undergoing an apprenticeship to become an electrician. But his destiny had more in store for him than wires and circuits.
His passion for sports took center stage when, at the age of 14, he attended an event in Asti where local sports clubs showcased their offerings. It was here that he encountered Skull Boxe Canavesana and met his future coach, Davide Greguoldo. The spark was instant, and Oliha eagerly joined the club. Under Greguoldo’s guidance, his journey in boxing began.
As an amateur, Oliha faced 59 opponents, emerging victorious in 45 of those bouts, with 12 losses and two draws. His prowess culminated in becoming the Italian Youth Champion in 2016, marking a significant milestone.
But the real glittering gem in his crown is the gold medal he clinched at the Italian championship, a cherished achievement in his amateur career.
The transition to professional boxing occurred when Oliha was just 19 years old. Remarkably, his loyal amateur coach, Davide Greguoldo, continued to nurture his talent, ensuring a seamless evolution into the professional ring.
On February 10, 2020, in his eleventh professional fight, he conquered Carlo de Novellis and claimed the prestigious Italian middleweight championship. He went on to successfully defend this title against formidable opponents, Andrea Roncon and Francesco Lezzi.
Not one to rest on his laurels, Oliha relinquished his Italian title in pursuit of a more coveted prize – the International Boxing Organization (IBO) “Mediterranean Middle” title. This quest culminated in a resounding victory over the French boxer Sofiane Khati, with Oliha sealing the deal in the fifth round.
His outstanding performance caught the eye of Agon Sports & Events, who invited Oliha to spar with their middle and super middleweight boxers. Oliha’s prowess and potential shone bright, earning him a spot in the AGON stable.
In November 2022, Oliha inked a deal with the Berlin boxing promotion, marking a new chapter in his career. Stepping into the AGON ring for the first time on February 24, 2023, he faced Rafael Amarillas Ortiz and emerged victorious, securing the prestigious World Boxing Organization (WBO) Intercontinental Middleweight Championship.
