About

Charles Martin is a professional boxer who competes in the heavyweight division. He is best known for winning the IBF world title in 2016, becoming the first American to do so since 2007. He is also known for his charismatic personality and his outspoken views on social issues.

Martin was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on September 24, 1986. He grew up in a rough neighborhood and faced many challenges as a young man. He was involved in street fights and gangs, and was shot twice in separate incidents. He also struggled with drug addiction and homelessness. He credits boxing for saving his life and giving him a purpose.

Martin started boxing at the age of 22, after being inspired by watching Mike Tyson’s documentary. He had a successful amateur career, winning the National Golden Gloves and the National PAL championships in 2012. He turned pro later that year and quickly rose through the ranks of the heavyweight division. He won his first 23 fights, 21 by knockout, and earned a shot at the vacant IBF world title in 2016.

Martin faced Vyacheslav Glazkov for the title on January 16, 2016, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The fight ended in the third round when Glazkov suffered a knee injury and could not continue. Martin was declared the winner by technical knockout and became the new IBF heavyweight champion. He was also the first American to hold a major heavyweight title since Shannon Briggs in 2007.

Martin’s reign as champion was short-lived, however. He lost his first defense to Anthony Joshua on April 9, 2016, at the O2 Arena in London, England. Martin was knocked down twice in the second round and failed to beat the count. He lost his title by knockout and suffered his first professional defeat.

Martin took a year off from boxing after losing to Joshua. He returned to the ring in 2017 and resumed his winning ways. He has won seven of his last eight fights, six by knockout, and has climbed back into the top ten of the heavyweight rankings. He is currently ranked number six by the IBF and number eight by The Ring magazine.

Martin is not only a boxer, but also a vocal advocate for social justice. He has spoken out against racism, police brutality, and inequality in America. He has also supported various causes and charities, such as Black Lives Matter, Feeding America, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. He has said that he wants to use his platform as a boxer to inspire positive change in the world.

Martin is married to Ashley Martin, a model and actress. They have two children together, a son named Charles Jr. and a daughter named Charli. They live in Los Angeles, California.

Charles Martin is one of the most exciting and influential boxers of his generation. He has overcome many obstacles and challenges in his life and has achieved remarkable success in his sport. He has also used his voice and his fame to raise awareness and support for important issues that affect his community and his country. He is a true champion both inside and outside the ring.
