Social Share: – Rage On The Red Sea, will be billed as one of the biggest heavyweight rematches in the history of boxing. Unified heavyweight world champion, Oleksandr Usyk, will put his IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO world titles on the line against former champion Anthony Joshua in the coastal city of Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Saturday, August 20.

They will also fight for The Ring heavyweight title after Tyson Fury vacated the belt in the wake of his retirement decision which was announced on Friday. The Gypsy King has also been given 10 days to decide whether or not to vacate his WBC belt, for which the number one ranked contender is Deontay Wilder.

Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs) stunned Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs) and the boxing world by outpointing the Englishman to win the IBF, IBO, WBA and WBO titles last September in London. Joshua was outboxed over the twelve-round distance as he suffered the second defeat of his professional career, losing via unanimous decision with judges’ scorecards of 117–112, 116–112 and 115–113 all in Usyk’s favour. The result meant that Usyk became only the second boxer ever, after Evander Holyfield, to win unified world titles in both the cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions.

This rematch is the chance for AJ to accomplish his mission – to become a three-time world heavyweight champion, and reclaim the belts, which he has done once before when he beat Andy Ruiz in Saudi Arabia back in 2019. Joshua insists his mentality is a very different animal now to the one that succumbed so meekly at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last September. And it is no exaggeration to say that his hopes of winning back his three world title belts in Saudi Arabia depend on him being good to his word.

Also on the card, Liverpool’s Callum Smith (28-1, 20 KOs) will face France’s Mathieu Bauderlique (21-1, 12 KOs) in a Final Eliminator for the World Title currently held by Artur Beterbiev.

Joshua vs Usyk 2 will take place on Saturday 20 August at the Jeddah Super Dome in Saudi Arabia. The fight will have its ring-walks at 10:30 pm following the conclusion of the undercard events with the bout set to get underway at 10:54 pm.
