The eagerly awaited super welterweight face-off, dubbed Kelly vs Corzo, between world No.2 Josh Kelly and the undefeated Gabriel Corzo has been pushed back to Saturday, July 15, due to an injury Kelly incurred during a training session. This news was released by Wasserman Boxing, confirming that despite the delay, the event originally planned for an earlier date will proceed at the Vertu Motors Arena in Newcastle. All tickets bought for the original date will be honored at the rescheduled event.

The match featuring Kelly vs Corzo presents the British boxer Kelly against Argentinian talent Corzo, and it will be exclusively live-streamed worldwide on DAZN, offering fans the opportunity to watch this thrilling encounter. Kalle Sauerland, Global Head of Boxing at Wasserman Boxing, voiced his disappointment about the postponement. He emphasized Kelly’s impressive dedication and performance in training, reassuring fans that once fully recovered, Kelly will be ready to demonstrate his prowess in the ring.

On July 15, the Kelly vs Corzo bout is expected to be fierce, as Kelly gears up to face Corzo in an attempt to clinch the world super welterweight title. Collaborating with DAZN and Wasserman Boxing for global broadcasting, the journey of Kelly’s title hunt, starting at Vertu Motors Arena, is eagerly anticipated. Kelly, globally ranked second, realizes that a triumph in the Kelly vs Corzo contest could pave the way for a showdown with undisputed champion Jermell Charlo.

Yet, Corzo, who holds the ninth rank globally, has his own aspirations for the title. He aims to create a shocking upset and disrupt Kelly’s championship dream. The fight card also showcases the return of heavyweight Nathan Gorman, the second professional fight for Codie Smith, and a match featuring the rising star in women’s boxing, Chloe Watson.

Additionally, the heavyweight face-off between Steve Robinson and Franklin Ignatius is scheduled, and fan-favorite Ben Marksby continues his journey in the super lightweight category. Kelly, famously known as ‘Pretty Boy’, is crafting one of the most awe-inspiring comeback stories in recent British boxing history, post his defeat to David Avanesyan. The Kelly vs Corzo match represents a significant step in his redemption journey, especially after silencing critics with his remarkable British title win over Williamson last December.
