Heavyweight contender Otto Wallin is hungry for tough challenges, even as he anticipates a rematch with Tyson Fury or a showdown with Oleksandr Usyk. Wallin has boldly accepted a match against one of the division’s feared punchers.

On September 30, Wallin is set to face the once-beaten Murat Gassiev, a clash that promises excitement and action. This 12-round bout, confirmed by Dmitriy Salita, Wallin’s promoter, will unfold at the Regnum Carya Hotel in the picturesque setting of Antalya, Turkey. Both Wallin and Gassiev are known for their aggressive fighting styles, making this bout a must-watch for boxing fans.

At 32 years old, Wallin has been aiming for a rematch with Fury, whom he narrowly lost to in September 2019. Efforts were also made to arrange a showdown between Wallin and Usyk, the Ring Magazine heavyweight champion and unified titleholder, but those plans didn’t materialize.

Salita explained, “We have tried to land a meaningful fight for Otto and, through that process, kept him active with stay-busy fights. Those fights gave Otto an opportunity to work and further improve. The fight with Gassiev was discussed for a significant amount of time. Otto has always shown the desire to fight the best in the division.”

Wallin (25-1, 14 knockouts), originally from Sundsvall, Sweden, and now residing in New York City, last competed in a stay-busy fight on January 27, securing a unanimous decision victory over Helaman Olguin. In his previous bout on May 26 of the previous year, Wallin defeated Rydell Booker by unanimous decision. Wallin has impressively won his last five fights since his loss to Fury.

Murat Gassiev (30-1, 23 KOs), originally from Vladikavkaz, Russia, and currently residing in Big Bear, California, knocked out Michael Balogun in the second round of his last fight on March 3, a fighter who entered the bout undefeated. Gassiev, 29, has recorded four consecutive knockout victories since his 2018 loss to Oleksandr Usyk in a battle for the undisputed cruiserweight championship.

This event also features hard-hitting junior middleweight Khuseyn Baysangurov (21-1, 19 KOs) of Moscow, Russia, taking on Fatih Keles (17-1-1, 10 KOs) of Turkey in a thrilling 10-round bout. Additionally, in junior middleweight action, Cuban-born Luis Miguel Boyona (6-0, 3 KOs) will face Uzbekistan’s Bakhromjon Fozilov (10-2-3, 9 KOs) in a six-round bout.

Stay tuned for further details on where and how to watch this action-packed card, as Wallin looks to make a statement against the formidable Gassiev, proving his place among the division’s elite after his memorable bout with Fury.
